The Undeniable Link Between Emotional and Physical Pain

I was once doing an EFT session with a woman who mentioned that she had a sharp pain in her thumb.

This was not the focus of the session, so we went on to work on some painful feelings in her relationship.

At the end of the session, she said, “Wow, my thumb pain is gone!”

When I checked in with her a few months later, her thumb pain was still completely gone, and had never returned.

No matter what you think causes the pain, it is almost always helped by tapping. Physical pain is the natural (unwanted) side effect of the stress and tension that build up in the body.

This wonderful story from Danilo Baltodano in Montreal:

My grandma, an 85 years old lady who suffers from arthritis was complaining about huge pain on the back. She could not move her neck and could not sleep due to the pain.

I proposed her to massage her back to release a bit of stress so she can relax. I started by pinching the skin to warm up the upper back by stimulating blood circulation. To my surprise she got calm and stopped complaining (I thought she was sleeping.)

Five minutes later she told me she was feeling better and asked me to stop. She sat on the bed and told me that she was not able to move her neck, due to the pain.

So while massaging the neck area I also started to massage the sore spot and started to repeat mentally the affirmation “Even though this pain is killing me I decide to simply relax and let it go.”

I did that at least 3 times and then to my surprise she said “I’m feeling well now.” She stood up and started to walk down the stairs. I try to apply EFT to every thing that involves emotions and it’s amazing how effective it is when practiced properly.

Me too, Danilo!

Two Surrogate Tapping Cases: Dental Anxiety and Severe Stomach Ache

Carol Solomon, PhD gives us two useful examples of doing EFT surrogately for her daughter. Please note how specific she tends to be with the issues. That tends to help. Also, note how easy and simple it is to do. Surrogate EFT should be in everyone’s tool box.

Gary,

While I have used EFT for years, I never understood the concept of surrogate tapping. I often wondered how it could actually work. Then I realized one day that “it’s all energy” so of course, if I am tapping for another person and we share the same energy field, they would be impacted as well.

My daughter is 11 years old, too “cool” to tap, or to allow me to tap on her. However, she was nervous when she had to have some dental work done recently. The dental office is rather long and narrow. The place for the parent to sit is in the opposite corner of where the work takes place. While her work was being done, I was able to do surrogate tapping unobtrusively in my corner. I tapped on myself in the usual manner as if I was her. I spoke the words softly to myself.

Even though it is hard to relax . . . I know I can stay relaxed and calm.

Even though I am afraid it will hurt . . .

Even though I am not sure what is going to happen . . .

EFT For A Frozen Shoulder: What’s The Core Issue?

I was recently diagnosed with a “frozen shoulder,” a condition that can come on suddenly or over time, especially in women. My shoulder ached at night and I had tightness, pain and a limited range of motion when I worked out. My doctor prescribed physical therapy, and told me that it would get better, but it would take 1 ½ – 3 years to fully recover.

I thought I could probably do better with EFT, so I asked my friend, Bob Huffman, an experienced EFT practitioner, to do an EFT session with me. There was no obvious precipitant, so the first question he asked was: “If there was an emotional cause, what would it be?”
